PBL Breaks!

In our PBL Break lessons, students engage in a holistic approach to both the technical and emotional aspects of creating films, through the lens of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Combining the power of storytelling with SEL skills, these lessons, foster empathy, self-awareness, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Students begin by watching thought-provoking documentaries, analyzing the techniques used in these documentaries, and considering the impact of cinematography, editing, and storytelling choices on viewers’ emotions and understanding. Through reflection activities, students explore their personal connections to the themes and issues presented. This introspection allows them to build self-awareness and empathy, deepening their understanding of the power of film as a tool for social change. Throughout the unit, students collaborate, provide constructive feedback, and support one another in bringing their film projects to life, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
