UNIT FOUR: Post-Production

This capstone unit empowers students with the skills and knowledge necessary to transform raw footage into a polished, engaging, and impactful final product. Focusing on editing, sound design, visual effects, and other elements that bring a film together in the post-production process, students learn about the technical aspects of video editing software, exploring different techniques to enhance storytelling through pacing, sequencing, and continuity.

Students also gain technical experience with sound design, understanding the significance of audio in creating mood, atmosphere, and emotional impact. Importantly, students also explore the importance of ethical film practices in relation to post-production, such as understanding how the use of tone and bias can inform a final product. Through these lessons, students learn foundational editorial skills, but also become more engaged consumers of media along the way!
